Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
“The Dead of Summer” by Camilla Way is an oldie (published 2007) but definitely a goodie!
I’d see a random person on the street; just a random person – an old man, a kid, anyone – and I’d stare and stare at them, driving myself mad with thinking about them because the more I wondered about them, the less real I became, thee less I could see myself, feel myself, and then the terror would start. Suddenly I seemed to be always outside myself, could only see Anita from the outside, as if I was another person watching myself, wondering who I was.

“As Husbands Go” by Susan Isaacs was released on July 6. Review coming Friday!
Whatever “a state of suspended animation” actually meant, I was suddenly in it – a cone of silence that wouldn’t lift until she spoke. Would I hear “He had no secret life?”

“Lovely,” she said, examining the shiniest one. “Nice to see you” she added, unable to contain herself. She was so happy to be with him.

“The Scent of Rain and Lightening” was released on May 4 and so far my only regret is that I didn’t start it sooner.
“Listen to me Jody. One thing you have to believe right now is that you’ve got to get out of here.”
“Why? What’s he going to do to me if he shows up and I’m here?”

He didn’t recognize me. Probably because I was dressed in a large bunny suit, I realized, a little late in the game.

I’m about halfway done with “A Fierce Radiance” by Lauren Belfer. It was released on the 15th of this month.
Claire saw her cover story for the magazine taking shape. This was what she was truly here for: not fumbling espionage, but the gift she had for creating evocative images.

I actually just finished this book late last night but absolutely loved it. “The Bucolic Plague: How Two Manhattanites Became Gentlemen Farmers“ is billed as an “unconventional memoir”.
Each pass across the plot drew new bruises on both shins as rocks, chunks of old fence-posts, and random rusty machine parts shot up out of the earth, as if it kept its own artillery down below. Strangely the most common pieces of detritus were bones.

I’m back this week with a from the Nebula Award winner “The Windup Girl” by Paolo Bacigalupi. I haven’t actually started this one yet but I’m pretty sure everyone has read my CURRENT read…except me (Gaiman’s “American Gods”).

My teaser is from “The Lonely Polygamist” by Brady Udall. I’m not very far in but this has been nothing like I expected so far.
